In Japan, it is generally considered bad manners to talk loudly, rest your elbows on the table, slurp your food, or excuse yourself during mealtime. Also be careful never to pass food from one pair of chopsticks to another or stab food with the chopsticks, as both are considered bad manners

Japan Railway (JR) and private railway lines generally have women-only cars. They are usually either the first or last car of trains during the morning and evening rush hour, although the schedule and location may vary by company.

Climate

Warm, hot and appealing for much of the year, the climate in Osaka varies noticeably season to season. During the winter months in Osaka, you can expect temperatures to hover around 10°C by day and only slightly above freezing at night. The summer weather brings highs of 35°C and a fairly humid and muggy climate.

Climate

Throughout the year, Hokkaido is relatively cool and has low humidity. Summer in Hokkaido is milder and can be the most comfortable place among the rest of Japan. However, autumn comes early and it gets pretty chilly after the sunset from around mid-September.  The average winter temperature in Hokkaido varies from place to place, however it is not a surprise to see places where the temperature drops below zero. Spring usually comes in early May.

Transportations

New Chitose Airport is the gateway to Hokkaido and each day several international direct flights arrive and depart. If there is no direct flight from your country, you can get to New Chitose Airport by way of Tokyo Haneda or Narita International Airports.

Travel Tips

Japan's tap water, particularly in Hokkaido, is known for its quality. You can drink it almost everywhere in Japan without worrying about getting sick.

If your budget permits, it is better to rent a mobile hot spot device in airports or other places. You can access the Internet in any areas covered by the mobile device.

In some cases the clerks don't know the price of sending a postcard abroad. We therefore recommend that you find it out in advance.
