The climate is tropical and very warm.  Coastal areas are hot and very humid, interspaced with rains and seasonal cyclones (January to April).  The upland areas are cooler, particularly at night, and have higher rainfall.  The rainy season is from November to April.

The main airport of Comoros is Moroni Prince Said Ibrahim International Airport (HAH). The major airports serving Comoros are Air Madagascar and Kenya Airways.  

 

4.Currency

The Comoros Franc (KMF) is part of the French Monetary area and Euros and US Dollars are also commonly used.  The Comoros Franc is tied to the Euro.  Limited acceptance of most international credit cards.

• Crime levels are low but take sensible precautions against pick-pocketing and mugging

Hot tropical climate.  Temperatures are cooler in the hills, occasionally dropping to freezing point in the mountains at night.  The cyclone season (January to March) is hot and wet.

 

3.Transportation

The major airports are Roland Garros International Airport (RUN) and Saint-Pierre Pierrefonds Airport (ZSE). The main airlines to serve Reunion are Air France, Air Austral and Air Mauritius.  

 

4.Currency

There are no currency restrictions on the import or export of local or foreign currency. However, amounts exceeding €10,000 or equivalent must be declared if travelling from or to a country outside the European Union.  Euros are the national currency, suggesting to bring cash.

 

5.Travel Tips

• Self driving requires experience due to the narrow mountain road.  Unfortunately Réunion has a bad record when it comes to road safety
